By the time August draws to a close, summer track days begin to wind down. However, for tarmac rally crews across the UK, the real action is just heating up. August marks the start of the frantic countdown to the winter season, most notably the highly competitive Protyre Circuit Rally Championship.

The championship traditionally kicks off its campaign in spectacular fashion with the Neil Howard Stage Rally at Oulton Park running alongside their iconic Bonfire Night firework party. It is an event defined by dropping temperatures, grease-slicked tarmac, and crucial competitive miles run in pitch-black autumn darkness.

Prepping a stage car for a winter circuit championship requires a completely different mechanical mindset compared to summer sprints. Scrutineers are strict, the weather is unpredictable, and daylight is short.
