Foil Tape

In motorsport, aluminium tape is valued for its heat resistance, durability, and ability to create airtight seals. Common uses:

• Heat Shielding: Aluminium tape helps shield components from extreme heat by reflecting heat away, often used on wiring, hoses, or bodywork near exhausts and other hot zones.
• Temporary Repairs: It can be used for quick repairs on cracked or damaged body panels, ducting, or other surfaces to hold things in place during an event.
• Sealing Ducting and Air Intakes: For air intake systems, radiator ducting, or intercooler pipes, aluminium tape seals gaps and prevents air leakage, helping maintain optimal airflow.
• Covering Seams and Joints: It can be applied to seams on bodywork or panels to smooth surfaces, which can aid with aerodynamics by reducing drag from gaps and edges.
• Electrical Insulation: Although not primarily an insulator, it can sometimes be used to shield sensitive electronic components from electromagnetic interference.
• Weight Balancing: For minor adjustments, small strips of aluminium tape can be applied to adjust weight distribution or balance on sensitive components, especially in karting.
