4.25 Litre AFFF Fire Extinguisher Rally Pack System (Mechanical or Electrical)
The 4.25 Litre AFFF Fire Extinguisher Rally Pack System, complete with a 2.4L AFFF hand held extinguisher, is an FIA homologated motorsport fire suppression solution designed for rally, race and competition vehicles where safety, compliance and long-term value are essential.
This package meets the minimum requirements of Motorsport UK for Stage Rally use and combines a fixed onboard system with a supplementary hand held extinguisher for added safety coverage.
FIA homologated to EX056-19 and compliant with Motorsport UK regulations, the system uses AFFF foam (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) for rapid suppression of fuel and electrical fires in motorsport environments.
This system is available in mechanical or electrical activation options, allowing flexible installation depending on vehicle specification and wiring setup.
Rally Pack Includes
- 4.25L AFFF FIA homologated fire extinguisher system
- 2.4L AFFF hand held fire extinguisher
- Motorsport UK compliant rally safety configuration
Mechanical vs Electrical Options
Mechanical Activation System
- Manual pull cable activation
- Proven motorsport-standard system
- Simple and lightweight installation
Electrical Activation System
- Electronic trigger activation
- Suitable for modern electrical systems and switch panels
- Cylinder weight: 6.04 kg
Both systems provide identical FIA-approved fire suppression performance and share the same 16-year service life cycle.
Long-Term Cost of Ownership (Key Benefit)
One of the key advantages of this system is its extended service life cycle, which significantly reduces long-term cost compared to traditional steel extinguishers.
- Typical entry-level system (~£225) with a 10-year life cycle = approx. £22.50 per year
- This system with a 16-year life cycle = approx. £16.20 per year
This delivers a lower annual cost of ownership, despite higher initial specification and build quality.
In addition, the system offers a lightweight advantage, reducing vehicle mass compared to many steel alternatives and improving overall performance and handling balance.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in a rally fire extinguisher pack?
This pack includes a 4.25L FIA approved AFFF system plus a 2.4L hand held extinguisher, meeting Motorsport UK Stage Rally requirements.
Is this FIA approved?
Yes. It is FIA homologated to EX056-19 and Motorsport UK compliant.
What is the difference between mechanical and electrical systems?
Mechanical systems use a manual pull cable, while electrical systems use an electronic activation switch or button.
How much does it cost per year?
Approximately £16.20 per year over a 16-year life cycle, based on standard cost comparison calculations.
Why is it better value long term?
Because the 16-year service life reduces replacement frequency, lowering total cost of ownership compared to shorter-life systems.
Can I buy spares for these systems?
Yes. We have a full range of spares HERE.
Do you have extra nozzles available?
Yes we do, you can find a full range of nozzles HERE.
Is this FIA approved?
Yes. It is FIA homologated to EX056-19 and Motorsport UK compliant.
What is the advantage of the 16-year life cycle?
It reduces long-term replacement frequency and lowers overall cost of ownership.
My extinguisher expiry says June. Does it expire at the beginning or end of the month?
Your extinguisher remains valid until the end of the stated month.
With Race Rally Supplies, your PD extinguisher is professionally serviced, compliant and ready for competition.
Stainless steel is heavier than mild steel, so how are PD systems lighter?
This is a common question. While stainless steel is typically heavier than mild steel, the design and strength of PD stainless steel cylinders allow them to be manufactured more efficiently, reducing overall system weight.
In many cases, PD systems can be up to 4kg lighter than equivalent mild steel systems. Because of the strength of the stainless steel cylinder design, there is no requirement for the heavy internal bladder commonly used in mild steel systems, helping reduce both weight and complexity.
This makes PD systems particularly attractive for motorsport applications where reducing vehicle weight is important.
Why is PD extinguisher servicing cheaper than some other brands?
There are a couple of reasons for this. The main factor is the stainless steel cylinder design, which removes the need for the internal bladder commonly found in mild steel cylinders.
Without the bladder, servicing requires fewer replacement materials and less labour time, helping reduce overall servicing costs while still maintaining FIA and Motorsport UK compliance.
The result is a professional, compliant servicing process that can often be completed at a lower cost than comparable systems.
